Studies on the Partical Variation of Constituents of the Korean Ginsen



Abstract
Ginseng has been widly used in the Chinese Herbal Drug as well as in the folk remedies for many centries.
it is claimed from experience that Ginseng exerts multiple sound thera-peutic effects in a large variety of disorders such as, neurouvascular disorders, respiratory disorders and even urinary disorsers.
And yet, the composition of Ginseng has not been definitely dlafied.
Moreover, the composition of Ginseng shows different proportions by the plant areas.
The authors, therefore, analyzed the general composition and amino-acid in the Ginseng extracts derived form Kangwha ginseng, kumsan Ginseng, Buyeo Ginseng and Punggi Ginseng, which were 5 or 6 years old.
The results were as follows;
1) The proportion of diluted alcohol extract fraction was the highest in Kangwha Ginseng, 37.22-39.33% and the lowest in Kumsan Ginseng.
2) Water extract was 30.93-33.72% in Kangwha Ginseng and 13.49-17.29% in kumsan Ginseng.
3) Kumsan Ginseng had 3.08-3.16% of water and the others. 2.20% and so.
4) Ash was 3.19-4.79% in all kinds of Ginseng.
5) In determination of amino acid, aspartic acid, threonine, serine, glutamic acid, proline, alanine, valine, methionine, isoleucine, leucine, thyrocine, Phenylalnine, lysine and arginine were found and arginine was the main amino acid.
